SOBRIETY
6-Week Pilot Projects
For People in Long Term Recovery
*What’s Next? You’re not drinking. Your life is getting better. Sobriety just isn’t enough.
*
Consider participating in a pilot project for Suppers for Sobriety: The only requirement for membership is the desire to lead a healthier life in body, mind, and spirit.
*Given a disease that is widely acknowledged to embrace the body, mind, and spirit of the sufferer, the body has long taken a back seat to the mind and spirit in alcoholism treatment and recovery groups. The body, or biological aspect of addiction, has largely been characterized by medical intervention for detox and pharmaceuticals for depression, anxiety, and symptom management. But addiction in its biological roots is a diet-related problem that manifests in different ways in different bodies.
*
Typical discomforts that follow people into sobriety are fatigue, anxiety and panic attacks, fuzzy thinking, depression, craving, and other addictions. Plus all the problems that made the addict vulnerable to alcohol to begin with.
*
The rationale for creating a group based on “suppers” centers on two kinds of nourishment: 1) sound nutrition to repair a body ravaged by years of drinking, and 2) restoration of the family table, proven to be good prevention and an antidote to the isolation of addiction and recovery.
*
If you and your family are curious about how diet and lifestyle can make sobriety more comfortable, please contact us. Pilot project meetings will take place once a week in Princeton at lunch times and dinner times during the summer of 2007. Please call Dor at 609.921.0441.
